Hi lord lover, good for you. I thought there was actually a cuss free chat room on the voice chat. I can't use that anyway, because I'm on dial up. I'd try to join you on the conference tomorrow night, but I think my calling card may be getting low, and I wouldn't have time to stay. I don't even know how to use it or where to dial in anyway. I wasn't even particularly interested in the conferencing calling till I saw your post. I'd gotten disenchanted with them after the last one I was in. Anyway, it's nice meeting you, and I hope you have a good conference tomorrow

well I called in and still had 63 minutes on my calling card, but no one was there, and they just play music when no one is there, so I hung up.

I think it would be cool if we could pick the music. And, there needs to be like a recording on each chat room saying if the spot is reserved. And, what time the talk will begin. i had truble with one person yesterday. Cussing, and prfane words. poor thing!
Oh my, that's awful. I just don't understand people like that, there are plenty of conferences that are anything goes sort of stuff, why don't they go in those if they have to talk like that. If it gets bad, I have a suggestion? Instead of posting it in the conference section, you could pick those who you knew talked nice and respectful, and pm them individually. That way, you could be more assurred of having a decent phone conference, just an idea.

Thanks, glad I was able to come up with a suggestion you could use. I was just looking around at some of the conferences, and I just assumed all that said anything goes would be swearing and stuff, but there was one who told people to keep it clean, that all ages could join, but I guess you never know.

Yay for cuss-free things! Thoguh this is kinda redundant in a way cuz Safe Haven has to be cuss free anyway! But it's a good kind of redundantbecause no swearing is a nice break sometimes so yay! And at least when people arej ust browsing liek the latest topics they'll see right away what this is. So yay Chelsea thanks for starting this or soemthing.

Well sometimes when it comes to swearing and lack of manners, you have to keep beating it in to people's heads until they get the point, of course most never get the point, but it never hurts to keep driving the point home.

Ps, even though people don't cuss in here, you can still be rude without cussing, so she could create a respect others kind of topic. I felt kind of bad for blindvi, getting shot down like that in my topic about funerals. It's one thing for me to get shot down, scolded thrashed, whatever, but when it happens to someone else in a topic I created, I can't help but feel guilty, because I feel if I hadn't started it, she wouldn't have got thrashed.

Well James, not all of the board is cuss free. I have seen many topics with swearing, cussing, and what not. This is one of few topics that excludes the profane language.
I think he meant this board, not all the other boards. No, the other boards aren't, I mean unfortunately, it's allowed in the other boards, but not this one. I try not to talk to people on here who curse, but if they approach me first and don't curse when they reply to my topics, I'll answer them, that's about it.

The Safe Haven board is, indeed, a cuss-free zone. So like i said this is kind of repetitive or whatevery a wanna call it. But ya can never be too emphatic. Anyhow, WW, dont' feel badly about the whole FUnerals thing, it was hardly your fault! Not at all! It couldn't possibly be construed as being your fault at all! Seriosuly...

Well I have been having experiences using google to translate things written in other languages. When I found out google would do it, I sort of got carried away with it, and wrote replies back, after I had them translated in to German and Spanish. It doesn't do well with italian at all. It might be an instering way to learn words here and there, but I don't think I'd recommend it as a language teaching tool, lol.

I guess it's better than no translation at all. It doesn't translate turkish unfortunately and I have yet to find a turkish translator. Funny how I can speak the language and not write it.
Well when I was studying German, I could say some phrases, but I couldn't read or write a word. When I used the 2 cassette 40 lesson tapes, she read some of the words and the translations, but the book was so thick, that to translate the whole book would be unmanageable. I think probably all translation programs are probably prettybad, and I don't think I want to download any translation programs. I don't know why jaws won't read those accented characters, but when I have the cursor over one, jaws doesn't speak until I arrow away from it.

The reason for jaws not reading those characters is because you have to have the language enabled I think. I had to enable turkish before I could write it, but like I said, I can't write turkish, not very well anyway.
I can only write English and French. Hahhaahahah. I wonder why someone would write on this site in another language for everyone to see. Strange.
Well, beats me, but I must confess when I found out google would translate it to a certain degree, I translated it, then used it to translate my english in to other languages. I won't get in to the reason why I started my morse code thing, you never know who'll be popping in here, but if it's public, I'll have it translated, because I'm basically a nosy person, though I try not to let it show all that much. Maybe it's just me, and I could possibly be wrong, I have been on quite a few occasions, but it seems to me the only reason people would post a lot in other languages when they could do it privately is because they feel superior, in that they can do it and some of us can't, and I think it's more of a, I can do it, you can't sort of thing.

not at all, it's absolutely possible to express ones self, whether on or off the internet without resorting to cussing.

Although we can not tell people what not ot say, we can ask them not ot cuss in the cuss free room. If they continue to cuss, well, we can report the message to the site.
You're right lord lover, I should've phrased it beter, I meant it would be possible to have a cuss free chat room, if people don't do it in a room that specifically says cuss free chat room.

Well, I'm having fun writing my robot story in writers' pad. I think the flow is going better, since I've decided not to worry about trying to write it in braille first. I don't think my stories will ever be published, but when I think of one, I think of one, and I just hate putting it in a drawer and gathering dust after I went thhrough all the labor of writing it, so might as well write with wreckless abandon, and let myself get carried away with whatever comes, and let those who read it choose to. Aside from posting it in writers pad, I'm also posting it on e-pals, and I'm sending it , piece b piece to my friend in australia. Have you ever read my blind halucinations story lord lover? You might have to dig to find it, but it's still on the sight here in writers pad

Well, it's slow going, but so far I've been able to add a little more, bit by bit each day. The hardest parts of any writing is the beginning and the ending. Because of the way this sight is, I debated whether or not to post any of my writing on here, but I read other peoples' writing, and read other people's critiques, and they weren't mean about it if there was something wrong with it, they were just constructively honest about it.

I had to redo it, because one of the segments didn't get posted, which made it out of order, so I asked admin to delete it, so I could start over and post them in the right order, so the subject line is actually, Blind halucinations again.

Well, it looks as if this chat room has really died down after all. What a shame! We had a good discussion before, but now everyone has lost enterest. Is there anything that could make this cuss free chat room better? Any ideas please let me know.
Well, since it would be a shame to let a cuss free chat room die so quickly, I'll bring up something I already brought up in lets talk. I received an invitation to add someone I use to talk to as a friend on a site called hi5. From what it says, when you accept that persons invitation, you are connected to that person, and all the other people he or she has in their friends network. There arrre a lot of things there, but as full as the groups postings look, most of them are old, the last messages being dated april 26. There are all kinds of groups you can join. You can also write journalentries, find people, read other peoples profiles if they completed theirs, and therre is also chat, which I assume is text, but not sure. The one who added me never responded to the 2 messages I sent him, and I'm not sure what I think about being connected to people I don't know. Although I know him, since we've talked on and off for about 3 or 4 years, but I don't know the other people he has in his friends network.Jaws acts sort of weird when I post messages in groups, for instance, I can't readanything I've written while I have forms mode on, and if I send the message without turning forms mode off, it shows up blank, and it does show up if i turn forms mode off before sending it, but some of the words are out of place, and don't appear where they should be. I've joned 9 groups so far, but as of yet, noone has replied to my posts. I just joined this site Saturday night. The url, incase people missed it in the lets talk forum is"

wow! sounds like a cool site! What version of Jaws do you have Wonderwoman? Maybe that could be the problem with the forms mode.
I don't really like forms mode. I mean, what's the point? If you're in an edit field you're suppose to type there. You shouldn't have to enter forms mode if you're over a form.
Well with the new navigation keys it would be hard for jaws to tell if you want to type or use the function of said key.

I'm afraid James is right on this one, kool turk, if you start typing when you aren't in forms mode, and you press letter t, it thinks you want to go to a table, so it will either put you in the table, or tell you there aren't any tables. Forms mode is usually pretty good, it just depends on the sight, some sights just don't work with it, but I think it's the sights' fault, not necessarily jaws. I'm using jaws version 6, lord lover. it usually acts like jaws 5. I think it's just the sight, probably has tooo many fancy graphics. I've gotten some replies from the groups i'm in,at least in the 40 + groups. I'm in 6 groups for people 40 and up. I can't communicate with anyone privately unless they're already on my friends list, because if I try to add someone, or send them a message, there's this thing where you have to type the text in the box or image, and jaws can't read it, so when I wanted to add someone, I had to give my email address on the group, and they have to send me a friend request. After I'v e accepted them as a friend, I can send them private messages with no hassle from that verification code. I don't know why they have it, it's usually sighted people who spam you, and all they have to do is type the letters they can see, but oh well, it would sure stop blind spammers dead in their tracks.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Braille Note use quick navigation keys? I don't think that has forms mode yet it can still tell when you're over an edit field. I could be wrong, just going by the reviews I heard on Main Menu.
Hmmm. Not sure about that one. Wonderwoman, it sounds like eather your internet is slow , or that you need to up grade to the latest version of Jaws. Who knows why the site is acting so silly for you. Good luck with it.
Well, I'm not sure that would do any good. Once i was able to read what i typed, but that was one time only. and the next time, I couldn't. it just may be the way the site is. nother irritation I have is when they try to download macromedia flash player on me. There's no link to just go and download it, it just automaticallly starts the download process, and i can hearthe computer doing it's usual grinding noise, and i have to wait till the security warning in internet explorer comes up and asks me if I want to run and install it, then i can choose no. it's a pain, because it does it every so often, sometimes more than others. I don't want it, as a totally blind person, I don't need it, but if i were sure I had enough space so it wouldn't drain my hard drive space, and nothing terrible would happen, and it wouldn't interfere with jaws, I'd almost be tempted to let it install, just so it would leave me alone and let me get on with things i want to do instead of having to wait for 3 minutes until it gives me the security warning. there's no status bar, when its trying to download, that tells you it's downloading, or how long it will take or anything. both hi5 and myspaaace do that, and the how stuff works site tries to do it to you. The sites don't even ask your permission, it's just internet explorer asking you if you want to install it. I don't like that.

well that could be either because you don't go in sites that do it, or if you have windows xp, you may already have it on there. I wouldn't want those sounds interfering with jaws though. it did come up temporarily once when i entered on a tour link. it told me a script in flash player was causing the computer to run very slow, and if it continued, the computer could become unresponsive, so when it asked me if I wanted to continue running the script, i said no, and that flash player kept playing some sort of musical sound every time i hit a key, but I was able to alt f4 out of it, and jaws could talk again.

well I don't know if that flash player automatically comes up or not every time you go in a site that has it or not. I get frustrated with those sites that try to push it on you, because they do it often, and the computer and jaws slow down for 3 minutes until that dialogue box comes up.

yes it is, sometimes I almost hate technology. I wish there was a way to get sites to stop forcing it on you, especially since those of us who are totally blind have no use for flash.
Yeah, or the x control, they are just pictures, and I know the google sites services require them. That's why I don't quite use google too much.
